This has been so exciting for us!
To have a plan on paper and then see it come to life has been a very rewarding experience. Our excitement has poured out over the men who have been putting their sweat and muscle and of course their imagination into this home.
Jeff (our contractor) and his right hand man Ron, started off by digging up the grass and laying out the foundation. We bought them hamburgers to show our appreciation to them and supplied them with oatmeal cookies, fresh from the oven. The plumbers came and went so fast, we couldn't really offer them anything except tea. They declined. It was so hot that day, I am sure they wanted to get done as fast as they could.
Another group of men came in to get ready for the foundation. The cement trucks were scheduled in a day and a half, so they were working very hard. Since there was no time for them to take a lunch break, we bought burritos for them. When it was time for the foundation to be poured, one cement truck after another came in. After the last truck came in and the cement was smoothed over, we fed them chicken. The temperature was over 100 the entire time they were here and of course they loved the sweet tea that was provided.
The men working on the ditch in the front yard for the sewer and water line tried to be as neat as possible. I did appreciate that.
The framers started work on Wednesday, July 22nd, and now you can see the house from Antilley as it is going upward. Mom and I will feed them Rick & Carolyn's hamburgers today, to reward them for the great job they are doing.
